Having mentioned the PHPEclipse project briefly in this posting, I’ve subsequently downloaded and installed it.

It took a bit of time, seeing as there is quite a lot of various component downloads that you need, but in the end it was worth it!

There are still a couple of little niggles that I have, like the instructions on how to set up Apache are incorrect and the preview page doesn’t then work until you sort it out, but other than that, it’s actually quite good.

I’ve only had about half an hour to play with it, but it seems quite good. As soon as I imported my exisiting website files into a new project, it had already pointed out one syntax error, so I can’t really complain.

If you use PHP, and are looking for a good editor/IDE for free, then give it a try. In a little while I’ll probably put up a page detailing how I got it to work properly.
